The light now filtering through the window caused Orvasrin to stir in the bed. He grumbled lowly to himself as he moved up a hand to block the intruding light out. After a few minutes of vainly trying to slip back to sleep he dropped his hand back to his side and let his eyes open. It took a few moments for the events of the previous night to sink in as he looked over Ryusei who lay next to him. He ran a hand lightly through her hair, smiling to himself. He still didn't quite know why he had these feelings for her but he would make sure he kept her safe from now on.
With a little bit of reluctance he slowly rolled slowly and quietly out of bed. He moved to find some trousers but then decided that a shower would probably be on the agenda first.

Ryusei moaned at the movement and curled up instinctively. Her black and silver hair flopped over her face and her eyes opened slowly, like a butterfly escaping the cocoon. Fiery ochres huggled the slit of black as she sat up, holding the blanket to her Venus de Milo self. She rose and swathed the black phoenix robes around her. Almost the instant her feet tossed the ground, she felt a wave of nausea hit her. Blood collected at the corners of her mouth and her eyes widened. Seeing Orvasrin in the bathroom, she hastily sprinted to the window and vomitted blood onto the walk below. She shook, spitting out the metallic taste that was not like the blood from a mortal. She stared at her body and then at the window.
Sighing heavily, she shuffled to the green-swathed book and riffed through it. Finding the next open page, her single finger pressed against the paper. Ink blossomed from her print, curving into a single recognizable name: Askilar. Unreadable writing curled under the name, ending in elegant cursive. She laid the book on the bed in her stead and scuttled to the kitchen, silently making scrambled eggs, sausage, and bacon. The air around her was eeriely quiet and she stared into space, busily preparing for the incubation of her newest guest. Vomitting blood was a signal that a successful egg will soon be hatched. His name would be Askilar, for a dragon knows about her pregnancy in order to prepare for the arrival accordingly.

Orvasrin emerged from the bathroom after a quick shower in the trousers, his hair still slightly damp, as he had hurriedly dried it. He moved back into the bedroom to find a shirt, guessing that Ryusei must be the one cooking from her absence in the bed. He wasn't sure she should be up and around quite so soon after what had happened, the faint smell of blood he caught increasing his worry. Still, knowing her she'd keep going until she worked herself to exhaustion. With as sigh he grabbed a shirt and slung it on, swiftly moving to the kitchen.
Not trying to be sneaky, since she would probably hear him easily enough, he moved up behind Ryusei and slipped his arms around her waist gently.
"You know, you should be resting up my pet. I am sure I could live making my own breakfast for a few days." He whispered to her as he brought his head next to hers. "But I'll thank you for the thought all the same."

"I'm fine," she said softly, her hand rising to caress Orvasrin's cheek gently. The dragoness released her hold and shuffled the food onto two plates. She absently placed the plates down and sat in the chair, staring at herself.
"Orvasrin...," her voice came out in a hoarse stammer. "I...the blood...that..." She sighed heavily and lifted her lids. "I will have to make a nest soon...for my son to come." She was thankful she didn't blurt it out or start crying about it, though a dragon's child is a very joyous celebration.

Orvasrin had taken a seat beside Ryusei just when she spoke up again. It took a few seconds for the words to sink in but when they did he froze up for a moment while he repeated the words in his head before he brought his elbows up to rest on the counter. He was now glad that he was sitting down as he let his head drop a little in thought.
"Do you know who the father is?" he asked after a pause, unsure as to the finer details of dragons when it came to their reproduction. Also he knew all to well of the ordeals she had been through so really for all he knew it could have been anyone’s. A part of him though was hopeful that it was his, even if that meant Ryusei was able to tell she was with child so quickly.

"My dragon self has accepted you as my mate, my lord," Ryusei said quietly. "I'm afraid the others were slain at point of conception, as dragons are. We--my kind--know at the instant so we can plan our nest." She brushed a strand of silver hair behind her ear, staring at our food.
"I need you now more than ever, for I cannot protect you lest my egg be harmed. I know I am your servant, but my egg is now my priority," she said. "Forgive me if I have offended you..." She swallowed, steeling her body for a slap.

Orvasrin remained silent for a moment before moving out of the chair slowly. He moved to Ryusei's side and crouched down, bringing a hand up to gently stroke her face while the other rested on her leg.
"Offence is the last thing you have caused Ryusei. If you need me to help you then I shall," he told her softly, looking directly into her eyes. "After all, I'm the reason for your current situation, so it's only fair that I take the time to look out for you for a change."

"I...am not used to the switched roles, my lord. You honor me," she said quietly, dipping her head. Her arms rose to the table as she rested her head between the diamond shape they created. Her pointed ears poked out through the curtain of sable and ivory. A deep sigh blew through her bangs.
"Master Lothair is alive. I will speak to Shinzo on the matter. Then I shall depart. Please, my lord, you shall be my eyes, ears, and mouth whenever I am needed. My book will guide you and we can speak." Her hazel eyes closed as she rose her head and began eating quietly.

"Then until you are able to return I shall keep an eye on Mister Lothair. Should you have need of anything just let me know," Orvasrin replied after finishing a forkful of egg. "Telckla is still here so you don't have to worry about leaving me unguarded. I would far rather you concentrate on our child." A child...a quick look through the real Orvasrin's memories showed him roughly what he could expect to do with a child, or at least one that he didn't merely see as a future threat to himself. It didn't seem all that hard, and it might even be rewarding to have a proper heir to the empire he planned to rebuild.

Ryusei nodded in silence as she rose to finish her meal. She rinsed her plate and bowed. "I am off. I have to speak to Nouikketsu before my departure," the dragoness said. She threw open the balcony door, lunging onto the edge. She leapt off nimbly, darting off into the distance in a flurry of kimono.

Orvasrin turned to watch Ryusei leave before finishing up the remainder of his food. While she had just taken off again at least he knew she wasn't holed up in some cave being tortured this time. Besides he had his own preparations to make, there were still a few things he needed to complete his body, he had to find a way to deal with that hunter and also go and talk to Claudius. A busy day again it seemed it would be.
After finishing his food he moved to clear up the plates and then went to check on Kuri's room. The girl wasn't there but it wasn't too uncommon for her to be out for a night. He shut the door again and started on his preparations for the day.

Kuri entered the apartment cautiously, checking to see if anyone was in before slinking inside and shutting the door. She moved quickly, darting to her room to collect the small rucksack that was stashed under her bed. She moved around the apartment packing some clothes, her sketchbook and drawing things, a picture of her mother and a few of her plushie animals, including the fox that she was bought the other day.
When she was packed up she flopped on her bed, cuddling with her remaining plushie animals. She knew it wouldn't be practical to carry all of them around with her, although she expected she would end up staying with Valken for a while after tonight she planned to come back here to help her father. She could pick up all of her other toys later on, or maybe she wouldn't feel the need for them, she wasn't sure. She ideally watched the sun begin to drop in the sky, knowing she probably wouldn't see another sunrise. With a soft sigh she dragged herself from the bed, leaving her room behind as she headed for the door. As she was about to leave she stopped in her tracks as someone spoke.
"You've been a little scarce around here recently Angel." the voice was the softer one, the one that she had been hearing less and less over the past weeks. The one she needed to help.
Kuri turned to see Orvasrin standing at the doorway to his room with a smile on his face and his arms outstretched. She wasted no time in running to him so she could throw her arms around him.
"Oof, careful now honey, we're not practicing tackles now." Orvasrin grinned as he embraced his daughter in return, holding her lovingly. "I'm guessing your planning on going out, not many other reasons you dig your rucksack out."
"Yeah..." Kuri stiffened a little at the observation, holding him a little tighter. "I might be gone for a few days...but when I get back...I'm going to help you, I'm going to find a way to make everything better." she spoke in a tone that as far more assured and confident than any others often heard her use. For once she thought she might actually be able to change something instead of just being pulled along by fate. And more than anything she wanted her father back, back to how he was before she died.
"Kuri..." Orvasrin sighed, stroking the girl's hair softly. "I think I might be beyond help now."
"But how can you say..." she started to protest before being cut off.
"I know how much you want to help me. It was the same with me when Clia passed away, and when I lost you as well..." he shook his head slightly. "What I have done to bring you back I can never forgive myself for, all the pain you've been caused, what I've unleashed on this world. You are here now in my arms, and that I'm thankful for but I don't deserve to be saved. As long as you can find a way to live happily then I have at least fulfilled my promise to you." He shivered slightly as he thought about what kind of fate awaited him now. He had never been an overly religious man, but it was clear to him that if there was any form of afterlife in store for him, he wouldn't be seeing any angels. Still, he had given his daughter a second chance, if she could find a way out of the possession then she could have the chance at life that was denied to her those five years ago.
"Daddy..." Kuri half whimpered against him, "I can't...I can't let you go...If I loose you as well I'll be all alone..." she sobbed lightly against his chest, not wanting to think about it but being unable to tear her thoughts away. When her mother had died they had helped each other get through the ordeal, she didn't have any other family to turn to.
"I wouldn't be so sure, you've made some good friends from what I've heard. I'm sure they'll look after you, probably better than I have." He patted her back lightly as he made soothing noises, waiting for her to calm down. Her sobs eventually quietened and they just stood there in each other's embrace, both saying their own silent goodbyes. It was a fair time before Kuri broke the silence.
"I love yo...!"
Her reply was cut off as something suddenly gripped her neck tightly, lifting her off the ground. Her hands scrambled to pull against it as she registered what it was. An arm, which meant that it had to come from...
"Of course I have the little matter of your insubordination to deal with. I'm sure I'm going to enjoy this explanation Telckla." Cerantirvos spoke, taking control of Orvasrin's body once again. His grip tightened on the girl’s neck. The girl’s eyes closed at the additional pressure, only to reopen moments later, the soft grey of her irises now replaced with a piercing blue.
"How...did...you?" Telckla managed to say in the choking grasp as the grey hair on her head slowly shifted to her preferred blonde. She squirmed in the mans grip but was seemingly unable to break herself free.
"We kept each other company for a millennia, did you really think your petty plots to overthrow me went unnoticed? Even recently your actions have been screaming hidden agenda and with my new commitment I can't exactly leave a loose cannon around now can I. Your use to me is at an end, I've collected enough materials to survive in this form, and being the only other Harundal that I know of, you the greatest threat to my survival. I've been reading you like a book, and now I tire of turning the pages." His other hand rose, the liquid sword forming in his hand, solidifying into the crimson blade as it levelled with the girl's neck.
"No..." Telckla whispered, with an almost sad smile on her face. "You really haven't figured me out at all." The wings that her body were graced with shifted into visibility again, a bright white glow surrounding them. "Usin." She whispered as the wings wrapped around her, the glow intensifying.
Orvasrin lunged forward with the blade, the sharp blade slicing through the wings as they moved into the way but it never made it as far as the body underneath.
A bright light filled the room, whiting out everything within for several moments. When the light faded the room was a mess as if it had been subject to a freak storm. Everything was blown around with only Orvasrin standing seemingly untouched, holding the bloodstained blade in the air where the girl should have been. Several white feathers lay scattered o the floor, one of them stained with drips of blood from the sword.
"So...we are doing this the hard way..." Orvasrin sighed, crimson sword retreating from his hand once more.

Orvasrin pushed the second sofa back into it's rightful place. Most of the smaller objects had been piled up on the sofas for the time being while he got the main features more or less back in order. Most of this stuff he didn't even use, it was either here for Kuri or just to make the place seem more like a human was living here. Still he hated things being disorganised so he brought it upon himself to tidy it up again after Telckla's little outburst. He moved over to pick up the overturned coffee table, well he'd need to go and try to find her soon before she did anything else stupid.

"What happened?"
A figure cloaked in what appeared to be an overcoat of shimmering black, silver, and purple feathers paused at the door, a bundle in her arms. The room seemed to drop ten degrees and silver smoky tendrils curled around the egg in Ryusei's arms. She removed her cloak hood and shuffled forward, looking around.

Orvasrin almost jumped at the sudden appearance of the voice before he registered whom it belonged to. He placed the coffee table the right way up before turning around. He gave the dragoness a smile, this was certainly an unexpected calling. Although he was still a little worried about Telckla targeting their child, if Ryusei was capable of coming here then she'd think twice before so much as approaching the dragoness.
"I confronted Telckla about her side activities and she took off with a teleportation spell. It left he place in a mess so I've just been clearing it up," he sighed, wondering quite why he was bothering to again. "It's good to see you Ryusei."

"You should have told me to eat her when I had the chance," Ryusei said irritably. She would have crossed her arms irately if Askilar weren't in them. She shuffled forward and kissed Orvasrin's cheek gently before sitting at the kitchen table. "I decided to brave coming here. Askilar is at the stage where he can defend himself. His shell is harder than diamond," she told her master. The wispy smoky substance curled around her hands.

"If you had eaten her then I'd be too weak to collect the remainder of the material for my new body my dear." He let his hand run through her hair as she moved away after the kiss, following her to the kitchen.
"It's good to know our little one is safe in there. I trust you are well too? I hope this whole thing hasn't been to draining on you." He spoke with a slightly soft tone, knowing that there was probably little reason to worry after her. Still, it felt like the right thing to say and so far that and a few old memories from his body's original host were all he had as guides for exploring this new thing.

"Ah yes, that snag," Ryusei sighed, resting her head on her hand as her other hand absently stroked the smooth, glossy enamel of the egg. Black runes, the ones consisting of her language, curled around it like a lethargic snake's trail. Ryusei turned to Orvasrin. "Yes, I am well. It isn't taxing, like fighting."

Orvasrin moved around behind Ryusei, bringing his hands to rest on her shoulders. He rubbed them gently, giving her a slight massage as she sat down.
"Well that snag isn't a problem now so if she does threaten you at all you can feel free to eat her," he said softly. "Hopefully we shouldn't have to worry about fighting for a little while at least. I only want you fighting if you are ready to though, I don't intend to put you in unnecessary danger again." Leaving her on that beach once was enough, he wasn't about to do that again. It wouldn't be long until he could attain his true form once more, then this shell would be expendable.
"How much longer do you think it will be before he's born?" He asked, turning his gaze to the egg while he kept up his gentle massage. "Should I go and get a cot or something for him? I'm not entirely sure what to expect from this." Normally Harundal children were left to fend for themselves soon after birth, but from the memories he could access human children were apparently a lot less able. He had no idea what their child was going to be so it'd probably be best to prepare for needing to look after it.

Ryusei purred at the soothing massage. "Nonsense. I'll be fine," she told him, opening one eye sternly.
Her orange eyes turned to the egg. "I don't know. It depends on him," she said, trailing her fingertip along one of the runes. "No, I will stay with him. He will not need a cot until he is weaned from my side, mutually or forcefully so."
She stroked the smooth enamel and turned to Orvasrin again. "You can talk to him if you want," she smiled. "He can't speak yet, but his aura is definately strong enough to give you a headache if something's wrong." She gingerly held up Askilar.

"You are a strong one," Orvasrin smiled. He leaned down so his head was beside Ryusei's. "Okay then my dear, just let me know if you do need anything for him. I'll make sure he's well provided for." He'd probably need to look into securing some more funds soon, he'd drained most of the savings the body's owner had. He still had to get a couple of things for the ritual, which promised to be expensive. Hmm, perhaps he'd have to talk to Claud about that sometime.
He pulled back when she turned around with the offer to talk with thier son. He wasn't exactly sure he had anything much to say really, after all he wasn't going to talk back.
Just hold him and something will come to you. That annoying lingering voice decided to interject. So he was still hanging around in here as well, quite why he chose to be quiet all the time was beyond the demon. Still he carefully reached out to hold the egg, cradling it snugly in his arms.
"Hey," he started, voicing the words as well as thinking them, not entirely sure which was necessary and concentrating far too much on saying something to work it out. "When you get out of there...I want you to be good for your mother. So don't take after me too much in that regard, family never was my strong point." He ran his fingers over the egg with a smile. "I'm sure you'll make us both proud though. You've got the blood of a demon and a beautiful dragon after all"

Ryusei laughed out loud and patted the egg, which let out a faint chirping noise from within. "Well, he has no hostile feelings which is a good thing. You'll get along. I know some eggs will attack anything without warning until they find something they like and decide to hatch for it," she chuckled, her laugh rather husky as she rested her head on her fist.
Her eyes suddenly darkened a bit. "Do I need to talk to Claud about my destruction of the city? Does he need to see me?" she asked, wondering what the man's actions were. She was kind of the cause of all this.

Orvasrin gave Ryusei a little grin. "He's definitely not got the personality of a Harundal then, which I am thankful for." Since it wouldn't be overly productive to their home environment if he had to expect his son to be plotting his downfall. The grin disappeared when Ryusei asked about Claud.
"He hasn't said anything to me. I don't think he intends to charge you over the matter, not that I'd let him. I can bring it up the next time I see him if you wish, but I think as long as you avoid any repeat performances it shouldn't be a problem." He sighed slightly, shaking his head a little.
"If there needs to be anything done about it I'll sort it out. You're my responsibility after all." He grinned again. He was allied to Claud for Ryusei's sake, but the laws of the coven he cared little for. He could only imagine the trouble he'd kick up trying to get his body returned to it's former state. He doubted the new policies would be any different in the 'helping demons regain their lost power so they can start using it again' policies.

Ryusei sighed as she picked up Askilar from his father's hands. "I see. No, I am fine. I just wanted to see if he was alright, if he needed something," she said, her voice soft.
She wearily came to her feet. "I am going to take a nap and then I'm going off to meet with some people," she said, dipping her head to him before kissing Orvasrin's cheek and shuffling off to the bedroom with her phoenix robe swaying behind her. She lifted it off of her and covered Askilar with it.

Orvasrin nodded to her. "If you need anything let me know." He told her before she shuffled off to the bedroom. He briefly thought about how safe she'd be moving about with the egg, but she seemed to be back to her usual self which meant that barring a legion of witches suddenly attacking he had little need to be concerned for her safety. He should probably be more worried about himself what with his renegade underling and that demon hunter around.
He sighed a little as she disappeared into the bedroom, looking around at the current mess, well now should he finish clearing this up now or take a break...maybe a nap...yes that sounded like a good idea. He smirked a little to himself as he headed for the bedroom, removing his shirt on the way. He tossed the shirt idly into the bathroom as he passed it. A smile touched his face when he saw Ryu curled up with the egg, she was still the most beautiful thing he had laid eyes on. With as much subtlety as he could manage he moved into the bed behind her, wrapping an arm lightly around her form. He kissed the back of her neck softly before whispering to her.
"I thought I'd join you."
