"Huh, since when did we have a cat? And since when did cats speak?" Kuri asked as she tilted her head to look down at the creature. "That was the cat right?" she asked before taking a bite out of the pancake she had skewered with her fork.
"Telckla, I don't have the luxury of time this morning," Orvasrin stated simply while he drained the last of his juice.
Kuri froze for a moment before she shut her eyes, her hair slowly shifting to a light blonde colour with even her wings changing so they neared more of a white. When her eyes opened again he now blue eyes narrowed onto Ryusei. "So then what's with the dragon my lord? Have I already displeased you enough that I'm being replaced?" Her innocent, hurt voice was clearly put on as she took another bite of the pancakes quite happily.
"How was the hunting last night?" Orvasrin asked ignoring the others questions while finishing up the last of his food.
"Oh, well actually we didn't get any done, little miss I don't like hurting people decided to go to a bar and buy blood instead. You should have seen her getting herself to drink it, I haven't been so amused since you let me kill that room full of slaves back at the castle." She let herself smile a little, letting the cat now exactly how far back the two went. "She also made some friends bless her. I'll make sure to hunt some more bodies tonight though, what with the full moon and all it should be easy to find some nice targets."

Ryusei scowled, her hindclaws tightening onto Orvasrin's thighs as her front ones silently trailed lines along the wood of the table. Her eyes narrowed as she swallowed curses of her own language.
"Is this the underling you were talking about, master?" the dragoness asked as coldly as her powers. Ice unfurled patterns of paisley into the grains of the table, snaking crunchily down the legs and crossbeams. Icicles slowly formed on the underside of the table as Ryusei leapt onto the corner of the table, staring at the other with hazel eyes.
"My name is Ryusei Bloodmoon and, as you obviously saw, I am a dragon. I suggest you keep your insolence to yourself when you are around me. My kin and I do not take well to that," she said softly, her black tail curling around ebony paws. A haunting smile curled her lips. "Do you like your pancakes?" How odd for the dragoness to switch topics, especially with the tone of Would you like some tea, ma'am?

"Yes, Ryusei this is Telckla, a fellow Harundal who went by the name of Telanna to the mortal ears. Ryusei offered aid, which I accepted, so you are not to try anything to harm her, is that clear? The same applies to you Ryusei, I'm in no position to have my few allies killing each other." Orvasrin stated plainly giving both of them a glare. The last thing he needed was two bickering underlings when he was in his current state.
Telckla mumbled some indiscernible words before bowing her head slightly to Orvasrin. "Fine sir, but I hope you will not take offence to me not liking your choice of pets. I will try to hold my tongue, if only because this body would likely not survive my proper usage of it, but I will find that difficult if our new friend starts acting all high and mighty." She poked her fork into the pancakes again, giving Ryusei a smile. "They're lovely thank you."

"Of course, master," Ryusei said quietly, bowing her head to ignore Telckla's comments about being high and mighty. That's what being a dragon required. She sighed and returned the smile.
"I'm afraid I'm not much of a chef for human food. Should you ever require flesh, I will always have some in my possession," she added blithely, pointing her tail to the tied trashbag filled with ravaged human parts. The dragoness gave a toothy smile. "Other than our occasional arguments, I think we'll get alone fine."
She glanced at Orvasrin, leaping off of the table. "I'm going for a swim in the bay to stretch out my body."--dragon body, that is--"Should you need me, you know how to reach me, sir," she said softly, nodding to him before padding off to her bag under the lampstand. She rummaged through it until she found a simple silver-thread necklace with a ruby stone, draping it around her neck. She padded out to the balcony door, opening and shutting it in silence before lunging onto the edge. She nodded to the two of them and launched herself onto the roof, darting here and there to Cheshire Bay.

Orvasrin returned the nod as he watched Ryusei depart, waiting for a minute after she was out of sight before turning to the winged girl once more. "I won't tolerate you trying to start trouble, you know as well as I do that she could paste you up this wall in your current condition. Now you were saying something about friends?"
"Aww is that genuine concern for by well being?" Telckla leaned forward slightly letting the fork play across her lips. A sharp glance from Orvasrin caused her to withdraw with an almost silent sigh. Always the same, even after spending all of that time together. "She ran into a pair of vamps and went out with them, ended up running into on of their sisters. She's gone and developed some feelings for one of them so I'm going to let that fester for a little so I can use it to give her a good dose of pain from it." She paused for a moment, her wings fluttering a little. "Come to think of it the siblings were a little strange."
"Strange?" Orvasrin asked, not bothering to comment on the other vamp. She was good at her job of mental torture, he had no reason to doubt that she wouldn't use the girls little crush to it's best advantage.
"They felt different, almost cursed, I couldn't pick up any more than that." Telckla responded through the last of the pancakes. "I can look into them if you want."
"That won't be necessary, just continue to hunt."
"But..."
"You heard me."
"Yes...my lord."
"Good, now I have to get these wards set up, the last thing I need is anyone tracking us." Orvasrin stood and retrieved the box of wards from the draw he had stashed them in, setting them up around the room.
Telckla meanwhile relinquished control of the girl's body, her hair, eyes and wings all taking on their grey tones once more. She recalled a conversation about the cat, it's name, how it wasn't used to being handled and other details without remembering any of the other conversations that had taken place. It wasn't long until Orvasrin left, after giving Kuri a hug, leaving the girl to spend her day in the apartment. Wishing that the next night would arrive so that she could try and see Valken again.

"Where did the master go?" came her quiet bodiless voice.
Ryusei appeared on the balcony in cat-form, gazing through the glass door at the girl. The door opened for her silently as she padded towards her bodybag, sifting through until she found a decadent piece of thigh muscle. She scarfed it down and, with difficulty, tied it. She washed her face and muzzle before leaping onto the couch, staring at Kuri with a tilt of her head.

Kuri was caught a little off guard by the cat’s sudden reappearance, having to recall the conversation she remembered about the cat being a magical one.
"Um, he was going out to pick up something he had ordered. I think it was a sword or something. He's always been into getting swords and things. He used to have a whole glass cabinet full of old weapons." Kuri spoke to the cat happily, starting to ramble a little as she remembered her old house and her old life. ‘If only things could go back to being that way,’ she thought to herself.

"Oh," the dragoness replied simply, smiling at the girl's talkative nature. She thought about going out for him, but shook her head. If he needed her, he would call for her.
Ryusei sighed and padded over to her bag, fishing out a string of her bells. The dragoness simply loved bells. The noise they made. The color they were. The elegance they possessed. She played with the string on the floor for a bit, wondering when her master would get home. He was very dear to her and she couldn't bear to see anything happen to him.

"He said he wouldn't be too long." Kuri added as Ryusei turned away to play with the bells. Kuri watched her for a little while before she leaned over to grab her sketchbook from under the table which sat in the middle of the sofa arrangement. She curled up happily on the sofa, flipping to a blank page and beginning to scribble. At first she was just generally scribbling a human figure but the further she got along the more and more she noticed it beginning to resemble Valken in certain ways. She sighed softly to herself before flipping the page and starting on something else. His phone number was already memorized but it was a while until nightfall yet and she knew that she just had to wait, that didn't make it any easier to do though.

Ryusei turned, the cat's curious eyes directed towards Kuri's. "Who's this guy you like?" she asked, tilting her head. Being an empath, she could sense affection swirling from around Kuri's aura. It was blurry and mixed with other random auras due to Telckla, but it was definately present. The cat leapt onto the couch with a loud meow, curling her black tail around her sable paws.
She yawned widely and scooted down next to Kuri's thigh with a purr, her string of bells knotted in her paws.

"What, I, I, how did you?" Kuri managed to stutter quickly flicking the sketchpad closed as her cheeks lit up in a blush. So the cat could not only talk but could apparently read minds as well, and after making that little scene she couldn't exactly deny it. Ah well she guess it wouldn't hurt to tell Ryusei about it, she was just a cat after all...a cat that could talk and seemingly read her thoughts but a cat none the less.
"I...don't really know him all that well," she sighed slightly as she started her explanation to Ryusei. "I met him last night...he was just really nice I guess. I kinda don't have any friends given my...condition so...I guess it was just nice for a change." She didn't really know how to explain herself, as she wasn't entirely sure how she felt. Missing out on five years of your life tends to throw your social skills out the window. Half of the reason she wanted to see him again so badly was to try and figure out what she was feeling.
"I know I probably sound silly." She added dropping her head a little in thought.

Ryusei smiled. "It's written all over your face that you liked someone," she said, rolling onto her back. She looked thoughtful at Kuri's explanation and then grinned. "Don't worry. I'm not a telepath, just an empath. That means I can sense feelings, not a mind reader."
The cat sighed. "I could tell you a bit about love and friends. You should know someone, but not trust them unless you know them well," she said. Her black muzzle turned to the girl and smiled toothily.
"You sound like a teenager," Ryusei said simply before adding. "Do you want me to come with you?"

"Oh well...you are one strange kitty." Kuri smiled, secretly happy that Ryusei couldn't read her mind, she didn't want her feelings and doubts completely laid open for the cat to read. She wanted to at least be able to keep her thoughts her own.
"I don't think he's the type to take advantage of people...I've seen enough of those to know. You are right though maybe it is dangerous to be so open, But I...don't know if I care anymore. Other than my father I've been alone for so long so..." Kuri stopped, shaking her head briskly. No she wasn't going to dwell on it anymore. She trusted him that was all that mattered, even if he was an apparent pervert. Until he gave her reason to believe otherwise she'd just continue to trust him, she'd had more than enough of letting pessimism run her life.
"Thanks...I guess." She replied to the teenager comment, smiling a little. "Um I don't want to trouble you...I'm sure you'd rather stay with my father anyhow." Of course trying to lie to an empathic cat wasn't an easy task. The truth was that she wanted to be alone, or at least as close to that as possible with Valken. If she had someone looking over her then she wouldn't be able to judge Valken as well and really she needed to affirm her trust in him on her own. That and she still had some things to tell him.

"I'm not just a kitty, y'know," Ryusei said softly, pausing to jingle her bell collar. She was about to reveal her true form and then thought better of it. The girl might comment it to this guy. The cat smiled.
"Forgive my pessimism. I hold a grudge for life and I'm not about to trust a man besides my master--your father--so easily," the cat said, dipping her head as she sat up to leap onto the coffee table ahead.
"Ah, you are right," Ryusei agreed once she landed on the table, her claws scrit-scratching on the glass. She nodded. "Just be careful. I don't want to kill this guy you like so much..." The dragoness smirked hungrily.

"Of course, kitty's don't talk." Kuri smiled at Ryusei, of course she had no idea that she was in fact talking to a dragon but that was beside the point. She had seen enough of the supernatural world that she just went with the flow nowadays. Besides she wasn't exactly the pinnacle of normal these days.
"It's okay, everyone has reasons for how they feel, I'm sure yours are good ones." Although she wouldn't tell the specifics Kuri's own reasons for being so eager to try and find some measure of happiness stemmed from experiencing death, or at least what she thought had been death.
Kuri looked away a little at Ryusei's last comment. "If I get into any trouble this body will defend itself...so I hop I'm not wrong about him..." Her voice was low, almost fearful. Killing someone she cared for, even if it wasn't by her own will, was not something she would be able to handle very well at all.

Ryusei laughed out loud. "Yes, yes, of course," the white cat chuckled, beginning to groom herself. Her rough tongue ran across black paws and muzzle. Her eyes lifted towards Kuri, her laughter fading away.
"Yes...very good ones," she said solemnly, looking down at her warped reflection in the glass. For a brief moment, she saw her human form looking at her in the glass...and then Yoru killing her. She sighed, placing a paw over his face.
"You'll be fine. Don't worry about it," the cat said quietly, jumping off the table to head for the refridgerator. "Do you want anything for lunch? A peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwich or something?" She seemed so down now that love was mentioned. Why did it seem that that stupid word had such an effect on people?

Kuri felt bad for holding such a long conversation on feelings, Ryusei seemed to have some problems with the subject. She wasn't about to ask for details, she figured if Ryusei had anything else to say on the subject she would have already done so. Prying into others business wasn't something Kuri liked doing either so for now she'd just leave the matter.
"Oh no I'm fine thank you...I don't really need to eat much nowadays. I expect it's something to do with the whole blood absorbing thing. Those pancakes I had will probably keep me going for most of the day." She was a little peckish but she didn't want to ask Ryusei for anything after putting her off with that conversation. She flipped her sketchbook open again letting herself linger on the Valkenish sketch for just a while before turning back to the blank page.

Ryusei was quiet for a moment, black ears hanging. "I'm going to go look for your father," she said quietly, leaping down towards her bag. In a fierce sweeping wind, she swirled upward in her silver-haired "human" form. Her hand gracefully pulled up a blue kimono crafted of silk and designed with embroidered camelias. Her white and black hair swept aside as she gently touched the doorknob.
"Be safe...," she said softly, with a majestic tilt of her head as she strode elegantly out of the apartment. Blue silk ruffled in her wake and then stilled as Ryusei disappeared.

Kuri turned around as Ryusei moved to the door, tilting her head to make sure she was seeing things right. So kitty could also be a human...a nice human...a human referring to her father as master...but she seemed okay. Maybe she was hired help or something that would explain the master bit and well she didn't seem overly...Kuri stopped herself, shaking her head a little, she was worrying too much, she didn't need to thing down those lines. At least she had no reasons to yet.
"You too," she smiled in reply, watching Ryusei disappear through the doorway. Her attention then turned back to her sketching once more.

Foot steps approached the door to the apartment belonging to Orvasrin and an envelope with Orvasrin's name written on it was slipped under the door. The foot steps then continued away down the corridor, fading from the hearing of anyone listening.
((I'll get to the contents of the envelope when somebody opens it))

Kuri heard the door open and turned to see her father arrive back with Ryusei on his shoulder. “There’s a letter for you that turned up a few minutes ago, I put it over on the he kitchen counter.” She smiled up to him from her position on the sofa. Having put away her book and pencil away after the letter turned up.
Orvasrin nodded to the girl’s comment as he place the bag and the case from his back down to one side. “It’s time to go out for the night,” he said, moving over to give her a quick hug, making sure not to throw Ryusei off his shoulder. “Be careful tonight, things will be a little busy. Thank you for picking up the letter.” He added with a slight smile before moving towards his bedroom to get Ryusei taken care of before he worried about anything he had brought.
“I will.” Kuri replied, letting her wings fade back out of sight as she leaned into her father’s hug. When he drew away she stood up, checking her pocket for Valken’s number even though she had committed it to memory already. With that she made her way out of the apartment to start her little ‘hunt’.

Ryusei's haunting hazel eyes gleamed in the remnants of the light as Orvasrin began walking towards his bedroom. However, she was curious to see what the contents of the letter were. Resigning because of sleep, she yawned and hopped off of the master, transforming into her human form once she pounced on the soft covers. The kimono fluttered like butterfly wings in her wake.
She slipped under the covers, pearly-white skin disappearing under the comforter. Her luxurious monochrome hair brushed over her features and her breathing grew steady, no longer shaky like before. "I'll be in here if you need me," she said quietly.

"Just concentrate on resting, if I do need you I'll come get you." Orvasrin reassured Ryusei, taking the time to remove his jacket while he was in the bedroom. "And if you need anything you know where to find me. I have a couple things to sort out then I'll probably get some rest as well. It's been a long day." He gave Ryusei a smile as he watched her under the covers for a moment, turning to leave the room after a few moments.
Upon his return to the main room he proceeded to clear away his purchases from the bag. Then he moved the case over to the kitchen counter so that he could open it up more easily. With everything moved he turned his attention to the letter that Kuri had mentioned. It didn't take a genius to guess who had probably sent it. He opened the envelope and unfolded the letter, reading over it quickly. Once he was done he refolded the letter and placed it back into the envelope, placing it back onto the table.
"So we either have the demon himself or another copycat. Either way I seem to be pretty popular in this time," he sighed. He thought over what he was going to do for a little while before deciding that he would meet this trickster, although he'd have to work on the exact time and place tomorrow. Right now he decided he might as well go and get some sleep, having been busy all day as it was he could do with catching up on the rest he'd been neglecting. With that decided he moved into the bathroom to take a quick shower.

Ryusei couldn't go to sleep to save her life, even though she wanted and needed to. Hopefully, some whiskey in her system would lull her to the bed. She tied her kimono around her body and stumbled to the door, silently scuttling to the kitchen.
Sleepily retrieving a glass from the cabinet and her body from atop the fridge, she wet her hands and flicked ice cubes from her palm to the glass. The whiskey was poured in the cup as she drifted back into the bedroom, the tart smell lingering in the hall. She was too out of it to pay attention to the letter.
She closed the door and sat her cup on the nightstand, drinking quietly as she listened to the rhythmic sounds of the water in the shower. Ryusei smiled and stared into her glass, draining it three more times before tightening the bottle cap and setting it aside as she slipped back into bed.
