"Be still, it was a herbal remedy designed to sooth the body on the way to lycanthropy."
Chu gently but firmly pushed Rei back onto the bed, in the state she was in she'd do herself a heck of a lot more harm than good if she tried to walk around. After getting the girl back in the bed Chu took a seat next to it and stretched out her short legs to get comfortable.
"I'll watch over you for a while, see if my little helping hand does it's job."
She twiddled and rolled the spent needle around in her hands as she sat and watched and waited for the herbs to take effect.

Rei thought about struggling against being forced to lie down again, not entirely sure she felt safe with this crazy needle happy nun. Unfortunately her body was already protesting at the jump up she had just made so resisting wasn't something she could really do. She curled back up, not wanting to irritate her body further.
"You could have told me...or something you know." she muttered in complaint at the sudden needling. "So what is this supposed to do?" she asked a moment later, hoping it wasn't about to put her to sleep or anything since she really didn't want to go through those dreams again.

"It should bring about the change much more quickly and less painfully. It acts a smoke screen for your immune system, stops it trying to kill the virus, which is what is causing the pain. It should take effect in the next few minutes."
Chu could smell the unmistakeable stench of a were but without her incredibly sensitive ursine nose she could not discern the type. Feeling the way she did about the were condition she felt no compunction to hold back a question.
"Do you know what form of were bit you? And have my 'sisters' managed to find it?"

'Oh yay crazy medicine..." Rei thought absently, as she listened to the nun continue. Why was everyone so sure it had been a were thingy anyway, wild animals carry all sorts of crazy ass diseases, she jsut had a fever that's all. Or at least that was what the rational side of her brain was telling her, although she was feeling a little better, albeit a little light headed.
"I was bitten by a fox," she answered, not about to indulge this were stuff for the moment. Of course it wouldn't be too long until she couldn't exactly deny her condition. "I don't know if they caught it yet."

"I'll go and check if you want. If they have they'll have forced him to return to human form by now so that we can talk to him."
Chu was willing to do most anything to make the girl any more comfortable or less worried. A person going through the transformation was sacred to her, someone to be cared for as carefully as humanly possible.
"Anyway, you need some rest and I'll be back in a few minutes so you can ask me any questions you want to about the whole condition. Oh and would you like some soup or something, it'll keep you going throughout the whole process."

"Oh um...I don't really care what ended up happening to it." Rei replied, not entirely sure if it had been a male or female fox which ha bitten her, not really caring as long as the mangy thing was away from her.
"I am a little peckish actually...I've already had quite a bit though so..." Well she was going to start feeling bad getting treated like this. She hadn't been looked after like this in forever and it wasn't like she was the most deserving of it. At least she could make it up to them once she was better, assuming she was up to scratch with running with this pack...errr...gang...thing...whatever. She still wasn't keeping up with all this too well.

Tass shuffled in with a box under her arm and her assault rifle resting on her right shoulder. She smiled, tilting her head cheerily. "You're awake, my daughter," she said approvingly. Then she sniffed the air. "And I see my Keeper was here." The Reverend Mother nodded and sat down the large box, big enough to fit a baby's coffin inside.
"We found your fox," she said, opening the box and gingerly pulled out the skin of the slain beast. The fur was a dark russet color and its legs, ears, and muzzle was painted black. Tass turned to Rei and held it out to her. "You may wear it as a keepsake, if you wish. It had become feral by the time we reached it. There was nothing we could do to save it."

Rei looked up and smiled a little at Tass's return, figuring she was far saner than the crazy needle nun. "Shortish woman? Like needles? Whatever she gave me seems to have helped some with the pain." She stretched out a little, enjoying the feeling of being able to do so without feeling like she had jumped into a fire. When Tass took out the fox pelt though she had to slightly reconsider her sane verdict just a little.
"I guess he won't be biting anyone else at least." She said in an odd tone as she took the pelt from Tass and examined it. She ran a hand over the fur carefully almost as if she was stroking a whole fox and not just it's skin. What the hell, was she actually sad that that thing had been put down? It felt like she had lost something, or someone maybe, something close perhaps? She shook her head a little.
"Stupid fever." she half mumbled as she hugged the fur. Maybe she would keep it. It just felt right for some reason. Maybe the crazy is rubbing off on me.

Chu returned with a bowl of steaming stew and a mug of tea generously laced with brandy, all set on a tray and balanced on her palm, waiter style. She set it down on the cabinet next to Rei, seeing her with the pelt. She nodded greeting to the Reverand Mother and tried her hardest to hold her tongue in deference to the senior woman. Her tongue won and she spoke in a voice spiked with mild indignation.
"Is that the pelt of the spirit who gifted young Rei? I would have liked a chance to communicate with them before you resorted to this."

Tass' brows raised at Chu's outspoken-ness. "It had nearly slain two sisters and turned a human by the time I caught up with it. It was feral, Keeper," the Reverend Mother replied. "If you wished to have communicated with it, it would have tried to ripped off your arm."
Her cellphone began hollering the "Hark the Herald Angels Sing!", causing Tass to sigh and pick it up. After a few moments, she growled and hung it up.
"I've got to go. Claud's being...an ingrate...," she said. "Chu, hold the fort for me." She shouldered her rifle and shuffled off.

Rei held the pelt a little closer as the crazy needle lady returned. Sure she had brought food and was feeling better now but she still half expected another needling at any time. She watched Tass leave, worried by her words to the other nun. So it basically was rabid then...but it had been humanish as well at one point right? And then it was put down...like an animal...
She shook her head a little, why was she even worrying, it's not like she was really going to change into a fox or whatever. She was just still a little delirious thanks to that fever. But then why was she so upset about the stupid fox getting killed?
"Thanks" she nodded to Chu, placing the pelt beside her before she tucked into the stew, trying to take her mind off it's thinking too much about crazy things.

((Sorry about leaving this quite so long, couldn't really think of how to reply.))
Chu watched Rei as she ate but remained silent until she was pretty much finished. She stood quietly from her seat beside the bed to get the girl's attention and then cleared her throat slightly.
"I have realised that you do not believe in what is happening to you. So I have decided to prove to you that Lycans are perfectly real and that what is happening to you is not merely a bacterial or viral illness caused by the bite of a diseased animal. Now watch carefully."
Chu kicked off her shoes and pushed them in the corner. She then stood squarely in the middle of the room and thought of the icy tundra and frigid sea of her homeland. Her skin bubbled and rippled as the muscles beneath shifted and grew to fit her cracking and lengthening bones. Her black hair shrank back into her scalp as it was replaced by an eruption of long white hairs. Her hands twisted and twitched as her fingers grew and long claws burst from the ends. Finally a drop of what appeared to be ink appeared on her face and spread rapidly until the skin all over her body was the black of polar bear skin.
She now stood over two metres tall on clawed digigrade legs. Chu grinned down at Rei with a mouth full of large pointed teeth. "See, we know what we're talking about when it comes to Weres."

“I’d like to see how you are…” Rei had begun in response to Chu’s claim before being silenced by the sight in front of her. By the time the transformation was complete she had managed to fall off the far side of the bed, rooting around in her jacket for her knife in panic. She kept the fox pelt tightly held in her grasp, trying to tell herself this wasn’t happening, how could it be?
“Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit…” she cursed quite liberally as her hands shook too much for her to effectively search her jacket and her body was racked with pain at the sudden harsh movements. The adrenaline running through her system wasn’t helping matters either, her body reacting to the perceived danger in a new way thanks to the virus in her system. Her fingernails grew out, becoming thicker and more pointed, her hair shifting from it’s usual black to a more tawney hue and her canines took on a more elongated shape. Her eyes became somewhat more canid in appearance as well but like the other effects on her body she hadn’t noticed them. She was far to busy fighting her body for some control as she shuddered, her vision beginning to blur. The hand on the pelt clutched it even tighter as she curled up on the floor, the other hand still trying to root through her jacket in vain.

Chu watched as Rei fell off the bed and rolled into a ball. A slightly worried look crossed her face and she reached out to the girl before thinking better of it and rapidly transforming back to being fully human.
"I'm sorry, I really am sorry. I didn't mean to shock you quite that much."
She edged slightly closer to the girl looking to comfort her but ready for an attack. She knew the flight or fight instinct that could control any animal, including a newly infected were. She crouched down just a few feet from the girl and very carefully reached out her hand to touch her shoulder.

Rei abandoned her hunt for the knife, instead choosing to pull her arms into her ball like form. She shuddered as her vision went dark...no not dark, see could see that fox from her dreams again. If she wasn't asleep though, was she hallucinating? Why couldn't that stupid thing just leave her alone? She didn't want it, didn't want any of it. As she felt the hand touch her shoulder lightly she flinched, clutching the fox pelt in her hand even more tightly.
"This can't be real...I can't be a...this is just..." she little more than whispered, her body still shaking in it's curled up state.

Chu, still moving slowly, took a seat next to Rei's curled form and looked down sympathetically at the girl. She'd had none of these problems, being born a were was much easier.
"I know this is hard to believe, but all that happened to you in the last few hours has been real, definitely not a dream. You are still you, just with a few new quirks. Now why don't you let me put you back to bed and you can sleep for another few hours and we'll talk again afterward. How about that, sound good?" She spoke in low friendly voice, trying to sound warm and harmless.

Rei uncurled a little, letting her sit in front of her face. Her vision slowly cleared up, letting her see the small tufts of what looked like fur sprouting on her finger tips. She promptly withdrew her hands again, whimpering slightly as she looked around, noticing both Chu sat next to her and that fox hallucination still there as well. She started at it, knowing it wasn't real but wanting it to just go away all the same.
"I don't want to sleep...I'll have those nightmares again...heh...I'm having them now and I'm sure I'm awake. Why me...stupid fox and it's stupid shitty biting me shit." Even as she complained about the fox that bit her she still held it's pelt close, not willing to let go of it for a reason so couldn't figure out in her current state.

Chu picked up the blanket which had fallen in a crumpled heap when Rei had toppled from the bed, she draped it carefully over Rei's still curled up body.
"We do not want you getting cold. The virus that is causing this change in your body leaves you open to other infections as it works. On the upside you are pretty much immune to everything once the change is complete. And the fox had descended into madness, the worst mix of human and animal. It had no real control over it's actions."
Rei was lucky that the sisters had found her, otherwise she would have either died or possibly become feral just like the fox that bit her. The change was an impossibly difficult thing to go through on your own.

Rei moved just enough to pull the blanket around herself, still shivering even under the extra warmth. She let her legs uncurl a little, but still stayed in her ball, unwilling to move much given the pain in her body and the sight of that fake fox prowling around her.
"Heh...so there are some perks then." She half smiled, not exactly sure why she found that amusing at all. "And what if I go crazy as well, I'll just be put down and skinned like an animal...that's more screwed up than I care to think about." She kept her eyes on the fake fox as it tilited it's head in an almost curious manner, god she must look like a right crazy now staring off at some figment of her imagination.

Chu smiled but the smile dropped away as when Rei spoke of how the fox had been killed and skinned, she did not agree with that at all.
"And there are some others as well. Going feral is never a good thing, but what happens to you depends on who finds you. If it were me for example I'd try and coax you back to sanity, but others as you can see are not quite as kind in their methods."

Rei squirmed a little, backing away as her fox illusion moved closer to her, it sat down again with that same smug tilt of it's head that was quite thoroughly annoying her. If she wasn't so convinced it was a hallucination she would have been trying to strangle the bugger right now for tormenting her. Instead she choose to settle for a harsh glare.
"Heh...remind me to run into you if I go crazy then. If I ended up biting anyone...I'd want to be around for them," she sighed, tugging on the pelt again. Stupid virus making her stupidly attached to the stupid fox that bit her and made her into some freaky werefox thing...no offence to Chu or Tass of course, but still it was all really stupid.

Chu climbed back to her feet and stretched. It'd been a long day and being able to turn into a large block of muscle meant you got lumped with quite a lot of the heavy lifting. She looked down at the girl's curled form and smiled warmly at her words.
"I'm impressed, not many people would be thinking about anyone but themselves at this point. But you manage to think about people you might hypothetically bite in the future. I think you're going to make a good addition to the were community in this city. Now would you like some more of the soup or do you want to just stay lying there?"

Rei shuffled about a bit on the floor, feeling for what sort of movements were causing her pain at the moment. After a little while she mostly gave up, curling herself up again and half rolling onto a side. The fox in her head seemed to mimic her, laying down and rolling onto it's own side. Stupid thing...
"I think I'll just stay here, I'm feeling pretty sleepy and this is quite comfortable. I'll probably only end up back down here anyway." She sighed, pulling the blanket and pelt tighter to her. Her eyes were drifting closed even though she was determined to keep an eye on that fox thing. Sleep was actually seeming like not a bad idea though, even if she was likely to have more nightmares, at least she wouldn't have to look at that cocky fox any more.

Chu stood slowly and looked down at the girl curled up on the floor.
"Well if you're sure...but you need anything and you just shout. Someone'll hear you and do whatever they can."
She moved round the bed and to the doorway before turning off down the corridor to get on with the other things she needed to do. Like lift more heavy damn boxes.

It didn't take long for Rei to nod off to sleep, although her position then didn't change to much.
She was standing in some space somewhere, with that fox still giving her it's stupid looks and following her no matter how many times she told it to sod off and leave her alone. Eventually she took to throwing stones at it, but then it just dodged out of the way and went straight back to looking at her.
After getting tired of that she half gave in to it's presence, throwing some sticks and cuts of meat for it, even though that met with much the same response. Then after some time just watching it she decided to ask it what it wanted, to which it approached her a little. She shifted back, not exactly being trustful of foxes, dream or otherwise after the biting, and it stopped.
Curious she approached it a little, watching it brighten up a bit at this. Becoming tired of the stalemate between them she continued to advance slowly, watching the dumb creature swish it's tail side to side like some kind of dog.
"Stupid thing" she muttered as she sat down with but a foot between them, slowly reaching a hand out to pet the foxes head. The fox nuzzled her hand happily, slowly moving to it's feet to rub against her like a cat would. Couldn't this thing make up it's mind what it was. She eventually settled for hugging the stupid, dumb, confused fox while petting it's ears lightly. It looked up to her with what she decided was probably a smile.
"So does this mean I'm accepting you as part of be or some crap like that? Because I still don't..." She was cut off as the fox licked her nose, snapping her instantly out of the dream.
She squirmed about on the floor, trying to pull the blanket and pelt back around her so she could nod off again, still feeling drained. For some reason she was having trouble with that though, not sure quite why, she could feel them fine but she just wasn't gripping them. And her tail had gone and flicked out from the...wait...what the...why were her clothes feeling so awkward now. Maybe she should just...wait she had a freakin' tail!
"Shitty, shit, shit!" She shouted, of course only making yipping noises now that she was in fact currently resembling the fox that she had been cursing at so recently. She scrambled around on the floor only really managing to get tangled up with her clothes, the blanket and the fox pelt. That didn't stop her from continuing to scramble around on the floor and whine like a crazy tawny ball of fur though.
