Rei cursed under her breath...repeatedly. First she ends up nearly botching a mugging and then she has some rabid fox bite her and tail her for god only knew how long. She was tired, in pain, and thoroughly pissed off. She didn't even have much of an idea where she was right now. After taking a bit of time to look around the surroundings she figured she must have been at the church of heavenly graces, well unless the fox had chased her a lot further than she thought.
"Bloody animals like that should be put down." she muttered to herself as she leaned against a wall. Why the hell was that bite hurting so much? It better not have actually been rabid.

Tass Macaulay held a broom in her hand, sweeping the sidewalks and stairs of the Church of Heavenly Graces. She was directing the other sisters of her all-girl, part-time nun, part-time gangmember sect of the Eastside to help rake up the leaves as the chilly wind blew in the sunset.
The slightly-chubby Reverend Mother (who was actually kinda of young) suddenly turned, hearing curses that would have made the human sisters blush. The were sisters, however, instantly came forward, kind features twisting to those accompanying that of the night. Tass gestured for them to stand at ease. She shuffled forward in her habit and tilted her head.
"Sister, come forward. You are in the presence of the Sisters of the Heavenly Graces. Are you injured badly?" she asked. She could smell the blood miles away.

Rei recoiled at the sudden appearance of the habit wearing sister, her hand instinctively moving to her inside jacket pocket, glancing the woman over suspiciously before relaxing a little. While she had hoped not to run into anyone they were only nuns, they weren't exactly going to be the type to mug her or anything...hopefully. Her arm withdrew from the pocket, away from her switchblade, and returned to gripping the wound on her right arm as she moved forward slowly.
"Just a little run in with some less than friendly wildlife. I didn't know Foxes were quite so dangerous. It stings a bit but otherwise..." she stumbled forward a little suddenly as a wave of weakness washed over her, blood covered hand moving to hold her head. What the hell, a fox had bitten her once and now she felt like this. Had they gotten poisonous recently or something?
"Sorry...guess I could do with sitting down for a while." she managed, her body beginning to heat up as if the sun had suddenly come out in full force.

Tass' eyes flashed with concern as she gestured for the sisters to take the woman up and carry her up to the abbey's quarters. Frowning when she scented the were upon the woman, she motioned for them to hurry to the beds.
They sat the woman down and Tass scurried to her side. "What is your name, sister?" she asked quietly, tilting her head. A sister retrieved some water and Tass dabbled it on the bitten one's lips. "And what were you doing to be bitten by a were-fox?" Her voice remained patient and kind.

Rei was going to complain about the treatment until her legs almost buckled under her, after that she went along without any argument. Maybe she had gone and caught a disease of that thing after all she figured. When she was placed on the bed she had to resist the urge to just lay down there and then, her strength rapidly fading.
"Rei...my names Rei," she replied, her voice taking on a sceptical tone at the other question. "A were-fox? What is that like a species of fox or something? You're not going to try and tell me it's like a werewolf are you?" Although at this point she wasn't even sure that she had heard her right.
"Nothing springs to mind as to why a fox would attack me no. It came out of nowhere." she added, not about to connect her mugging a little beforehand to the activities of some crazed fox.

Tass shook her head with a heavy exhale. "I see," she said, raising her brows. "I am a nun. I will take care of you no matter your sins." She rose elegantly and dipped her head.
"I'm going to get you some food and medicine to make you feel better. I will see if the sisters can find this fox for you," the Reverend Mother said. She made the sign of the cross and shuffled away.

"Um...okay" Rei said quietly, watching the nun walk off before leaning back on her elbows heavily. The pain from the wound seemed to be coursing through her entire body now and she could swear her vision was starting to go out of focus. She forced herself not to lie back entirely though, simply because she knew that she'd fall asleep and in her current state that didn't seem like a good idea.
"Were-fox...nah it can't be." she reasoned to herself in a whisper. The nun had looked her straight in the eye and said were-fox...she couldn't have been serious though surely?

The nun came back some while later carrying a tray holding a steaming mug of broth and a bowl of noodles. "Here, Sister Rei," Tass said softly, laying the tray by the woman's side. "The sisters are going to go look for your attacker." She gave a gentle smile. The slightly-plump woman stirred the mug and gestured to it.
"Here. Drink this and rest. I'll check on you later. My name is Reverend Mother Tass, if you need me," she said cheerily.

"I didn't know nuns handled pest control now." forced a smile at the mental image of a load of nuns running around town after a fox. She shook her head a little to dispel the image but quickly decided that had been a bad move since it felt like her head was going to drop off at the movements.
"Hey...I don't generally consider myself the kind of person that deserves this kind of help...so uh...thanks." she said with a hint of actual gratitude. Maybe she was just delirious from whatever was making her feel like a truck had hit her, but she was grateful that she had stumbled here now. She slowly sat up and carefully took up the mug of broth, the taste was lost to her as she drank it down. After devouring as many noodles as she could stomach at the moment she let herself lie back, not too sure she could have supported herself much longer anyway.
"I'm so pro fox hunting now...” she mumbled to herself as her eyes closed. As she slept her body tossed and turned as she dreamed, garbled images of foxes and the moon, of blood and killing. It felt as if a part of her desired this, that somehow she wanted this. All the time the images of the fox kept plaguing her.
She didn’t know how long she was out for, but when Rei snapped awake again her body was screaming at her. Her body shook as she curled up on the bed, fingers gripping the sheets as pain racked her body.
“Ta…Tass?” she managed to whimper out, not knowing anyone else to turn to at this point. She was afraid of what was happening to her and right now Tass was the only one she knew who may have an idea what was going on.

Tass poked her head again, her habit appearing first. "Yes, Sister Rei?" she asked calmly, shuffling in again with a tilt of her head. She kneeled and wiped off the fox were's forehead with scented water to calm the senses. Her brow furrowed in concern.
"Here," she said, offering some ibuprofen. "It'll help..."

Rei sat up to take the offered pills and swallowed them quickly before falling back to the bed. The pain in her head dulled somewhat but the rest of her body was still happily broadcasting its pains to her.
"What's going on? Why am I in such...bad shape?" she asked, confused and frightened that she was suddenly in such pain when she had been fine earlier. Her hands moved to her mouth to stifle a coughing fit that shook her body.
"Am I...going to be okay?" she asked once the coughing had died down again.

"Your body has yet to get used to the virus," the Reverend Mother said, resting her head on her hand. "The first couple days after the bite are the worst and then there's your first moon. After that, it becomes natural instinct. You are allowed to stay here as long as you wish, but you must suppress the temptation of the human sisters as food. They hide our secrets well." The nun hefted up the loaded AK-47 in her lap.
"We're a gang, Sister Rei. We run for life in the pack," she told the other. "We handle our missions with extreme care. The feral ones can easily use our own weapons against us." She bent to touch Rei's forehead and wiped away the sweat. "You can run with us now."

"So...that werefox thing wasn't a joke?" Rei half questioned, trying to make sense of what she was seeing and being told. All the while wondering if she was still dreaming or not. Virus...full moon... this sounded like a bad horror movie. Sure that fox had maybe been a little big and far more vicious than any animal she had seen before, she felt like she was taking an acid bath and the church nuns were apparently packing some goodies...but a werefox.
"Are you saying I'm going to want to start eating people now? And I'm guessing I can't get out of this at all..." she sighed a little, wondering why she couldn't have just stayed at home tonight. Nope had to go out and get bitten by a fox, she almost wished it had just been rabid now as well.
"Heh...I always seem to get caught up in gangs." she half muttered with a slight smile.

Tass' eyes rose with an expression of nuns don't joke. She rested the rifle on her shoulder like a sleepy sentry, resting her head on it gently.
"No, unless you turn feral. You might have the temptation to bite others. We eat regular food plus the addition of raw meat," the Reverend Mother said softly. "When you are better, we'll fit you with a habit of your own and you can meet the other sisters." She smiled amiably.

Rei stretched out a little on the bed, the pains were remaining tolerable for the moment although she could only assume that she was going to be in for a very rough couple of days.
"What's it like...the whole changing thing? Does it always hurt so much?" she asked, wondering silently if the AK was there in case she did go feral. She guessed being put down would be preferable to being some kind of monster but still. It surprised her that Tass was a were something though, she didn't seem overly...different...well other than the being a nun with an assault rifle of course.
"When I'm better...I don't suppose there's any way to make this thing easier?" It occurred to her that she was being pretty accepting of this whole situation, she guessed she was too busy trying to phase out the pain to be freaked out right now. When she had the energy to she figured she might flail about a bit at all this.

"Yes, for the first couple days of the changing," Tass said with a soft smile. Some loose strands of frizzy hair fell out of her habit, laying contrast with her wide, white collar of her station. The abbess gave Rei a gentle shake of her head.
"I am afraid that we cannot be cured. I was born a were-cat. I will die a were-cat," she said.

"Figured as much..." Rei sighed at the news, of course if there was a cure they probably would have used it already rather than telling her all this stuff. Well it didn't hurt to ask at least.
"So am I going to be turning into a fox or does that only happen on a full moon? Now that I can't imagine...running around on all fours with a tail and all. Hey if were things exist does that mean that all the other things like vampires exist?" she asked before pausing and shaking her head weakly
"Sorry, you must be getting bored listening to all my questions." she apologised, running her hand over her face. She could probably do with sleeping more she figured but she wasn't looking forward to more of those dreams.

"You can turn into a regular fox on a normal basis, but at the time of the full moon, you will shed your skin for fur and, well, I'm sure you've heard the stories of the werewolves," Tass explained, waving her hand. "And nonsense, we sisters enjoy questions. We feel that ignorance leads to hatred." She smiled.

"I guess it's then I turn into the angry furry girl with the bad disposition then. That's going to be fun." Rei mumbled. She winced as a burst of pain shot through her, curling up a little once more. After a few moments she relaxed again and continued.
"Hmm, well if I'm going to be turning into a fox I guess it pays to know what I can. I take it you didn't go through this being born a were then?" She wondered how that must have been, being born so different. Well she probably felt normal not having been anything else.

Tass bent her head. "It would take too long to answer everything there is to know about weres right this moment," the abbess said softly, flashing Rei a kind smile. She placed her hand on the were-fox's shoulder amiably.
"Are you strong enough to walk? Some sunshine will do you good," she said gently.

Rei gave a slight nod, slowly pulling herself up on the bed. She still ached all over and would very much have liked just to remain on the bed but she didn't like being bed ridden as comfortable as it may be.
"Yeah...I think I can manage that." she said quietly, slowly planting her feet on the ground. She pushed herself up delicately, swaying a little when she was standing by herself. Once she was steady on her feet she looked over to Tass with a smile.
"Seems I can," she said as she tugged her jacket lightly back into position.

Tass offered Rei her arm to help her along as she guided the were-fox to the front courtyard in the brilliant sunshine. Flowers lined the cobblestone paths, tended by the other were sisters, intertwining along the closed iron-cast gates. Topiaried hedges stood tall, casting the shadows of leafy giraffes and horses against the sun.

Rei took the offered arm, still not that steady on her feet thanks to the virus's effects on her body. She followed Tass to the courtyard, gazing over the assorted plants and sisters under the sun's rays.
"This all looks so normal...nothing like all the stories really. Kind of not surprising people don't notice you...us even...that's going to take some getting used to." She wasn't human now...apparently. This whole thing still seemed to surreal to her, sure she was ill and the local nuns were a gang, that didn't really need werewolves, cats and foxes to make sense of. Those dreams still nagged at her but being ill she would hardly consider that out of the ordinary either.

Tass let out a gentle laugh. "We try our best," the abbess said. "We tend to have problems if something leaks out and a mob arises. We have to eradicate that issue, along with the dragon attacks and the Coven business that's been happening lately." She shook her head disbelievingly. "It's hard being the young leader of a were gang and a nun at the same time." She led Rei to a little bench next to a statue of the Virgin Mary. She turned and kneeled, trying to fix the cracked birdbath next to the Holy Mother. She sighed heavily and hefted it up to give it to a passing sister.
She turned back to Rei. "So, what are you good at?"

"Dragon attacks?" Rei half questioned before shaking her head. She had enough to think about without worrying about dragons as well. "Leading a gangs never really an easy job from what I've heard. Guess it's harder with all the extra stuff you do." she continued as she looked out over the grounds.
"Depends on what kind of things you're talking about really. I've never really considered myself good at anything in particular." she admitted. You didn't exactly go around saying you were a good mugger or anything like that.
