Cat smirked as her new employee Mal walked with her to the store. When they arrived she used a key to let themselves in. Still within his arms she moved as nimble as a, well a cat. Once inside she motioned to him.
" Put me down and lock the door. I can manage to hobble from here." She smirked as she moved to be able to put the weight on her good leg. The curtains were still drawn so no-one could see inside of the store. She moved to the counter once free and bent low with a wince to unlock the safe. She produced a old book and looked up to Mal.
" Come here. Tell me what you know of mystical creatures." She instructed him as she also took out a black box keeping it beside the book as she waited for him to speak up.
" And don't be a smart ass about it. There is a reason I told you to bring a weapon with you. " She told him knowing she would have to produce a better weapon then a kitchen knife for him eventually. That would only at best startle a night creature..... not stop it from attacking.

Mal did as he was told, letting the woman down carefully before moving to lock the door. It had been an interesting walk that was for sure. He still wasn't sure what to make of Cat but for now he didn't have much of a choice than to see where all this was going. A job was a job after all. When he moved back he shook his head a little, not sure what to make of that question.
"Shall I go ahead and say nothing at all, 'cause I kinda feel that's what you're setting up to tell me anyway." He didn't know how he was supposed to feel about this situation. She seemed serious and not like some nut job who was half crazy. Though he might have to re-evaluate that opinion soon. The conversation he'd overheard with the strange man the other day though was still bugging him. A lot of things were not adding up so it seemed he'd have to listen to her explanation.

" Good answer!" She spoke up as if speaking to a child during class. She smirked a bit coyly as she opened the book and pointed to a image of a well built male looking everything normal and handsome. The opposite page spoke of the creature called a vampire and their history as well as how to kill one or heal one. Strength and weaknesses and such.
" This, is what was in your apartment, not this man in particular but one of it's race." She grinned as she opened the box and pulled out some fangs that looked to be the size of a human but overly pointed.
" I found these in a dresser that once belonged to a vampire hunter. It had a secret compartment to it. I'm not one for collecting the body parts of other species but when the matter has long been done nothing can change the results.... so I keep these as part of my ... antique dealings. Besides other things." She spoke, waiting to see how he would reply.
" Some of my antiques are of a dark nature... so I get pulled deeper into this pit of a city and deal with the creatures who have lost them or is in search of them. The interesting things you learn from looking at the trash of the immortals and elders of this world will astound you." She teased, taunted him pretending she was mortal for the time being.
" Do you understand so far? " She asked as she looked into his eyes.
" If you do, and still want this job... I'll go further and tell you the rest that you need to know." She informed him since he would have to learn the difference between the night breeds and normal mortals.

"Right, so a vampire wanted those stones as much as you. I guess that makes perfect sense." He shrugged, not really sure what to make of that explanation but since she seemed so serious about it he didn't know what else to think. That would also explain the man's words about her rotting in 'human' jail.
"Okay then, so say for a second I believe that it was a vampire that decided to trash my apartment. I'm going to have a hard time believing that I'm so unprepared for all this unless you have a pretty good explanation as to why you are. No offence, but unless you've had a really interesting past before owning this shop I don't see what sets us apart so much." Knowledge would be the obvious answer but the way she carried herself about all this made him wonder all the more. Most people would rather get a leg wound looked at by a doctor too. Well unless they were wanted for something but those sorts don't normally open business where they deal with the public.
"Otherwise I'm willing to bite, so to speak. If nothing else it's the most elaborate way to get out of paying someone I've ever seen."

Cat smirked all the more at this, studying the man for a moment before continuing. Watching his eyes simply as she waved her hand before her.
" My past... is nothing that is relevant to the situation but I am a well trained fighter who knows how to survive. " She smirked as she flipped through the book and landed on a page that was filled with the images of various stones.
" Those stones you had are part of a troubled past. They were constructed by a species known as shifters. The stones each have a element base infused into them, In the old days there were dozens upon dozens of those things, but as time passed many were lost or destroyed. It is rumored maybe only a single dozen has survived time. Maybe less. They boosted their owners powers, their magical strengths and their beastly souls. As tolled on time the shifters were also lost, either hidden away from society or maybe truly dead. Their stones were not. Magical creatures seek those things to increase their power.... myself." She smirked.
" I just want them for myself. To keep them out of the wrong hands.... and put them into the right ones." She spoke vaguely with a grin. Not telling him she was part of the mysterious shifter race.
" My shop is a great front for that, since they would be antiques and all. Plus what I find that is not relevant to my search, I can sell off to the highest bidder." She smirked coyly at him. Just to further draw her point crossed she suddenly moved, leaping up on the counter to sit, not once letting her injured thigh hit the wood of the said counter, using her feline skills she put all the weight on her good leg and arms before settling down in a moments notice.
" I am sure you noticed my fighting style in your apartment. I'm not just a little old book lady." She practically purred at him amused as a cat toying with a mouse.
" I'm more then a match for a vampire. When my thigh heals.... we can have a sparring match, and I can prove how unprepared you actually are." She grinned at him deviously.

"I don't believe I had said you were an old book lady. Though yes, I guess we will have to spar sometime when your leg is feeling better won't we." He still wasn't sure how much of this was truth or not. Cat seemed trustworthy, at least it didn't strike him that she was lying about the stones and things. Something seemed a little off but considering what he was being told that could be about anything.
"Right so if I take this job I'll be serving some odd creatures and that a few of them might take an issue with their payments?" He asked, watching her as she moved so gracefully up onto the counter. Wondering if she really needed the time to recover.
"I would imagine that if you manage to survive it then I can learn the same. Assuming you're going to frank with me then I'll do my best to learn what I need to do. I'm not super concerned with the money so long as I have enough to put food on the table. Just don't go turning out to be some evil wizard or something okay, I'm sure my father grandfather would be rolling in his grave if some super powerful stones he was keeping ended up being used for evil or the like." He grinned, watching Claire with a hint of a smile in his eyes. This would be far better than an office job.

She laughed amused at this.
" Don't worry I can guarantee I'm probably the sunniest person you will find in this new walk of life." She smirked at him as she gave a bit of a sigh.
" On occasion yes, and you will have to learn to tell them apart swiftly and get their little hints. The easiest to tell apart are the older immortals, they have old world charms and manners of speaking. Though a few are an acceptation to this rule of course. I will be here all the time at first so you will learn swiftly. If anyone starts getting out of hand give them to me to handle. Humans are the easiest to deal with, they see this shop as normal and homely so you might be best suited to deal with their desires while I haggle with the others. First rule to learn. Never show fear, some of the breeds feed off of it and might view you as lunch." She chuckled to herself.
" And to give you a heads up, the occult shop cross the street is ran by a witch. If you ever find yourself here alone and need protection head his way. He's probally one of the few witches you can actually trust in this city. " She grinned knowing Adrian was a ninny but well could be useful when he was needed.
" Any other questions?" She asked as she slid off the table top and hobbled over to grab a broom and dustpan to hand out to him with a grin before turning to put the items away.

Mal smiled as he took the broom and dustpan, glancing around the store as he continued to listen to her.
"Aren't male witches normally called wizards or warlocks? Or is that all my TV learning showing?" He commented with a smirk, starting to work with the broom since that wasn't so hard to do while talking. He wasn't sure how much of this was going to be necessary. It was still hard to believe all of this so he figured he'd have to see it first. He wasn't sure how he'd feel about this being proven right but he'd cross that bridge when he came to it.
"I wouldn't worry about me coming off scared, been in a few bad situations myself before. Not involving vampires mind you but I can't imagine the basic principles are differing too much. As I said, I'll do my best, if it becomes too much you can keep the stones and I'll step out." He shrugged as he continued his work, having to give her another glance over. For the wound she had she seemed pretty sprightly.
"Just one, how did you get into all this then?" He couldn't imagine most people would really fall into dealing with the supernatural and stay there. Least not if it was as real as she seemed to think.

" Different religions actually. Witches are nature based in beliefs revolve about elements and earth magic and such, the natural orders. Wizards are those that like that title, thrive for power and are more so .... evil and not of the coven. I don't know the full scheme of things but that is what I have read." She smirked at him. She continued to listen then grinned as he asked her on how she got into all of this. She let out a light laugh.
" Lets just say I would rather see what lurks in the shadows then hide my eyes and pretend it's all make believe and keep telling myself that till one day .... my make believe world devours me." She told him, not dwelling upon it more then that.
" And it makes for some good buisness. Some people don't know what they have in their hands but I do and can make a profit off their loss." She smirked again then winked.
" It's amazing what people will bid over. " She added as she moved away from the counter and limped to the storefront. She watched as a girl entered Adrian's shop and raised a brow at this.
" Hmm speaking of the witch, he seems to have company himself....." She spoke to herself as she watched the back light of the store flick on. She mused to herself what was going on then turned around to her new friend innocently.
" After work tonight I'm hitting the bar. You can join me then if you like." She waved behind her carelessly as she went to tend to some paperwork by the counter to place some orders. She wanted to play with the human a bit.... and see what he could do.

"Right, well I guess that makes sense. Watch out for wizards then I guess." It was going to take a while to get used to the different wording but he figured it would be a good idea to. Probably wouldn't pay to upset someone with the wrong use of titles.
"Ah so the adventure and the profit then? Sounds like more honest reasons than most give for their activities. I can accept wanting to make your way in the world and so long as you do it with some honesty." He gave a glance over to the shop across the way as she mentioned the witch having a visitor, not sure he wanted to rely on that one at all.
"Assuming you're going to pay me for my days work. I'd love to have some more time to discuss the finer details of my job and the world I don't know about." He smiles, not having much in the way of anything else to spend the rest of his time doing after all. Besides the more he knew about what he was to deal with the better.

" You do more then sweep, there are books to restock. Their in the boxes in the back room." She smirked looking at him deviously but nodded at his words.
" I am a honest gal." She winked at him. She was only half honest but she wasn't about to tell him the full truth of course. She wasn't that stupid. It was a need to know bases and well that wasn't something that he needed to know.
" After you restock, you have windows to wash and a whole back room to dust." She grinned, yes she was being a bit of a slave driver. She wanted to see exactly how far she could push this new little toy of hers.

"Nice to know I won't be bored at least." Mal simply replied as he continued his sweeping. Casting an eye around the store he had to imagine that he'd be working fairly hard for his money here. If nothing else though it would be nice to have something to occupy his time. The last few months of idleness had really taken their toll.
"So once I'm done cleaning the whole store up will there be anything else?" He asked with a grin, watching her again for a moment. Well she certainly was a lot better than some bosses he'd had. Perhaps she'd be entertaining later at the bar as well, he could always do with some more people to hang out with. It didn't hurt that she was easy on the eyes but given how much he didn't know about her he wasn't following those trains of thought for the time being.

She laughed at this.
" What a simple man, I told you, you will be working with customers as well. So you will be helping them. " She told him matter of fact. She limped cross the floor but looking a little stronger then before. She flipped the sign to open since she was here she might as well drum up some business. She then turned and moved to behind the counter. Starting up a pot of coffee for herself.
" Do you drink coffee?" She asked simply as she went to the mini fridge taking out a few breakfast items to share with the man. One could eat and work at the same time so she didn't find it much of a distraction for him.

Comrade smiled at her at this.
" Sometimes, when it suites my needs." He told the fox were as he turned into the shop. He hailed Clare as the blonde looked up swiftly with a smirk upon her face.
" So I guess the rat has come to pay me a visit?" The shifter smirked as Comrade watched her carefully.
" You can say that Clare. Though I wonder which of us is truly more of the 'rat' here." He told her challenging her words as he nodded to his new friend.
" Brought my girl here to look, she is very interested in the very old and unique." He smirked looking to the fox were with a devious smirk. He was using her to help draw out the rare stuff. Clare often didn't show him her goods cause he would turn them and make a higher profit off of them but his 'girl' she well she might be more willing to show.
