Were Grimoire
Were Pertained Herbal Grimoire
Silver- A deadly substance to most weres since it has been said to be a blessed metal. A single bullet though can wound severely and take much longer to heal but unless you hit the brain, heart or major vital area it’s no worse then a normal bullet, though normal bullets take much less time to heal then a silver one. Silver dust can make a were deeply ill, and in mass doses ( almost half the entire body weight in silver dust) can kill them.
Wolfsbaine/ Monkshood - Worn in satchels on the body, Wolfsbaine can actually help prevent emotional shifts. Though it will not help during full moon transformations. Eaten it can be a form of poison, depending on the dose if it will kill or not. Though for it to be useful, it must be collected under the light of the full moon only!
Moonstone - This jewel is said to increase a weres abilities, though not all moonstone’s have this property. Either it must be collected under the light of the full moon, carved and polished. Or it has to be blessed by a gypsy or another person with magical rites.
Ways to Become a Were
- Get bitten by a were
- Scratches can also cause one to be infected but it’s harder to contract the disease this way. It’s a 50/50 shot if one would be infected or not especially if they were in human form at the time since humans usually wash their hands a lot. If scratched by the feral form, it’s more likely you would turn into that which you have been scratched by for animals often lick their paws and taint them with their salivia.
- Have sexual intercourse with a were and live. Many times one would either be killed by the were, or die of the virus.
- Drink water from the footprints of a were under the full moon. This is said to be a myth, but the truth is still to be tested.
- Were a cursed pelt of a were, this was said to of once happened way back in history to a evil witch.
- Cursed by a witch or magic using creature. This is rare magic to know so it’s very rarely one is tainted in this way.
- The original way that all weres were created. If someone is weak or dieing, their souls can be bonded to a nearby animal. Making the animal and the human one with each other. This in turn starts a mutation in the genes that forms the virus. This is said to be the origin of the were species after a great war had come to the land long ago, though no one knows who had learned this spell and caste it. Almost no one but the vampire coven of 13 and a select few of ancients know of this method and can perform it.
The Night of Change
After being bitten it can take anywhere between 3 - 24 hours for the virus’s outcome on the body to show. Either one will die from it, or they will live on to become a beast of the night. After being bitten, one has only three hours to find the cure, a mixture only the coven and a select few magic users posses. Often injected into either the forearm, neck or legs.
The only cure is a serum made special from the blood of a were. Much like the anti-venom used for snake bites.
When one is bitten, often the biter is subjected to the law of the coven. If you make a child of the night. You must deal with your creation. Either through guidance, or death, they are forever more your responsibility. If your fledgling starts committing crimes, or getting out of hand. It is your job to punish them. If the master is killed then this burden would fall upon their oldest first creation that is not corrupted. Example, if their first creation was going on a murder spree, then either a close friend, or their next uncorrupted creation would have to do the deed.
A bite from the master who created the infected human can speed up transformation and bring forth the result of either a freshly turned were or death. It speeds the virus up into overdrive and builds the antibodies a lot quicker.
Often a bond will form between master and fledgling, this bond usually running deep. Sometimes the master can have slight persuasion over their kin. Either through letting them feel their own emotions or other methods, the new were would often be close to them like a pup to it’s mother. Though this is not always the case.
A person who is bitten and left to their own device is often referred to as either a loner or a stray.
Once one has gone through a whole lunar cycle, the transformation into a were is considered by the pack to be complete. For the were has experienced all the feelings one would over a lunar month. Humans consider the transformation finished after 24 hours, since this is when the bodily illness subsides.
Rituals
( To be thought up )
Species
Were’s can be any species of animals. Normally limited to predatory beasts. On some occasions some may find prey based weres. When in half shape or feral form, they all still retain to scale size. Example a were rat in his half shape will not be bigger then say a lion were.
Were Lingo
Loner - A were on their own with no master
Stray - See abouve, Usually a not nice way of saying it
Pack - A group of weres, similar to a gang.
The Night of Change - The first night you are infected.
Blood Were - Born with were blood
Blood Born - See abouve
Feral - full animal form of a were, looks like a natural animal. Feral can also refer to a moon-turned were that has gone insane.
Half Beast - The half human, half beast state that can walk upon either two or four legs as desired.
